Image quality, what is it? For me it's what you get when everything is captured just right. The settings - focal length, aperture, shutter speed, color settings, contrast and sharpness. If I'm standing in front of something that I'd like to photograph, I usually adjust my settings to give me the very best image quality. I take a minute so I can come up with something that simply looks better than it is and appears to jump off the page, or monitor. No trade secrets, just skills of the trade. At some point, technology will fix this for everyone with the perfect "auto everything" button, but when it does I'll be ready to talk about lighting. When the "auto lighting" fix arrives, I'll have one last skill that can not be touched...subject matter!
